Sapienza Università di Roma


The Sapienza Unit is coordinated by Marcella Corsi, feminist economist and expert in history of economic ideas, whose research currently focuses on gender inequality and feminist pedagogy.

The Sapienza Unit contributes to the online database with a dataset specifically devoted to Italian women involved in economics, either in academia or in policymaking, in the period 1950-1999; creates a dataset of publications by Italian women economists based on publications available in International databases (Econlit; RePEc and Scopus). 

The Unit is composed by Carlo D’Ippoliti, feminist economist and expert in research evaluation; Nerio Naldi, economist and expert in economic archival research; Giulia Zacchia, feminist economist and expert in history of women economists.

Marcella Corsi

Professor of economics at Sapienza University of Rome, where she coordinates Minerva - Laboratory on Diversity and Gender Inequality (https://web.uniroma1.it/labminerva/en). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manchester (UK) and a degree in Statistics/Economics from University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She is among the founders of the web-magazine inGenere (www.ingenere.it) and the association Economia Civile (https://www.economiacivile.it). Since June 2023 she is board member of the International Association for Feminist Economics.

Carlo D’Ippoliti

Professor of economics at Sapienza University of Rome, where he is also a member of Minerva - Laboratory on Diversity and Gender Inequality (https://web.uniroma1.it/labminerva/en). He is the managing editor of PSL Quarterly Review (formerly known as Banca Nazionale del Lavoro Quarterly Review) and of Moneta e Credito. In 2018 he was awarded the Lyncean Academy’s Feltrinelli Prize for young social scientists. He has obtained a joint Ph.D. in economics from the universities of Rome “La Sapienza” and “W.F. Goethe” of Frankfurt am Main.

Nerio Naldi

Associate Professor of Economics at Sapienza University of Rome. He holds a Ph.D. in History of Economic Thought from the University of Florence (Italy), a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Manchester (UK) and a degree in Economics from University of Modena. He participated in the starting of the ASE projects (1998-2000).

Giulia Zacchia

Associate professor of Economics at Sapienza University of Rome where she is also a member of Minerva - Laboratory on Diversity and Gender Inequality (https://web.uniroma1.it/labminerva/en). Her research interests extend to social and financial inclusion, feminist economics and gender gaps in labor markets and in academia. She holds a Ph.D. in History of European Economic Thought from the University of Macerata and a degree in Economics from LUISS G. Carli University of Rome.
